2011-05-20
"2011 Macao Sports Day for the Disabled" was successfully held in Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on April 10, 2011 with 2,500 people present, which was organized by the Macao Sport Development Board, co- organized by the Macau-China Paralympic Committee & Macau-China Recreation and Sports Association for the Disabled, the Macau Special Olympics and the Macau Sports Association of the Deaf. Nine recreational and sports activities and three booths for physical fitness test were offered for the disabled and their family members to share the joy of sports together with all citizens.
Nine recreational and sports activities were designed for 2011 Macao Sports Day for the Disabled, hoping to encourage more disabled people to take part in sports activities, foster interests of the disabled and their family members in sports, and strive to finish all recreational and sports activities with sports spirit of self-improvement. Physical fitness test and evaluation were conducted for all participants, which is conducive for them to understand their physical condition better and select more suitable sports activities. In order to advocate the spirit of "PHAB (Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied) Integration", this year we particularly invited Mr. Jia Rui, the Wushu gold medalist of Macao in the 16th Asian Games in 2010, to support and encourage the disabled, which can drive the disabled to be well involved in the society and face the challenge with sound physical health.
Meanwhile, we also hope to pass on the message of "Lifelong Sports and PHAB integration", strengthen the public attention and understanding for the disabled, and motivate the disabled to actively participate in social activities to make contributions to the creation of a harmonious and healthy society.
