The 1st TAFISA Certified Leadership Course in Kish Island, Iran

The picturesque island of Kish in the Persian Gulf was the venue of the TAFISA's first Certified Leadership Course in Sport for All. Delegates from ten Middle East countries namely Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Syria, Iran and Tajikistan attended this new worldwide program from August 27 to September 2, 2007. The event was hosted by the Iran National Olympic Committee, the National Olympic and Paralympic Academy, the National Sport for All Federation and Kish Free Zone Sports and Recreation Institute. Thanks to the outstanding efforts of TAFISA Iranian board member Mrs. Mitra Rouhi Dehkordi, the Leadership Course became a reality. TAFISA president Dr. Shang-Hi Rhee who paid a visit to the course welcomed the new initiative "as a milestone within the global Sport for All development". The establishment of the Leadership Course is TAFISA's answer to meet an identified great demand from its members. As the result, the focus of the course is on leadership and management skills necessary for the development and promotion of Sport for All and physical activity on the national level and addresses Sport for All leaders from national sport organizations, NOCs, sport ministries etc. Major topics are policy, philosophy, volunteerism, marketing, management, programs, public health etc. in Sport for All given by renowned international experts in sport for All. 

Participants who complete the course will be exposed to international perspectives, learn more about example programs and apply what they have learned in creative planning to meet future needs of their sport organizations. Participants that successfully complete the Course will receive a certificate from TAFISA. 

The next two TAFISA Leadership Courses are to be held in Lagos/Nigeria, Nov. 26th – Dec. 2nd, 2007 for African countries and in Macau, Dec. 22nd –Dec. 28th, 2007 for Asian countries. The Courses will be hosted by Sports for All Nigeria and Macau Sports Development Board.
